After the creation of SOAR Ringsport in 2012, Ryan spent 18 months researching Malinois genetics and building relationships in France with the goal of finding the perfect dog. It was through this process the foundation of Croisades du Nord would be formed with the acquisition of Ionn.
​
Ionn is a very large, dominant, powerful, and forward male. He has always had a full, deep, and calm grip on whatever he is biting. If he does not have a full grip, he will push into the decoy to achieve this. Ionn has extreme drive for a ball. His food, tug, and hunt drive are also very strong. He respects handler correction, and takes decoy correction appropriately. Ionn is structurally sound, and while being larger than a standard Malinois, he is conformationally correct. Ionn jumps well beyond all of the French Ring III maximum jumps. Ionn can be described in French Ring as a "point dog" where he uses his intellect and techniques in combination with his size and stature.
While he is pro-social with people and dogs, he is very much a one handler dog. Ionn is clear-headed and environmentally stable in all situations. He has shown civility when pushed or not respected.

Ionn is the total package of a Malinois where his stunning appearances meshes seamlessly with his working ability. When not working, he has an "off-switch" which makes him very easy to live with. Ionn was retired from competition in the spring of 2022 with over 40 competitions, 25 of those in Ring III. Ionn's accomplishments are distinctive and he is the most decorated French Ring dog to have ever competed in North America.

Ionn has undergone OFA and Embark health testing with no issues. Ionn is an internationally proven stud. He is retired from breeding but semen is available to pre-approved females.. His puppies can be found working in: French Ring, Mondio Ring, IPO/IGP, PSA, Agility, SAR/Human Remains Detection, Competitive Obedience, Executive Protection, and Police K9.

Stromae is a medium sized male who is exceptionally quick and agile. He easily outpaces all of the other dogs in daily activities and has endless energy. He is a forward male and is pushy with decoys. Despite being our most "French" dog, Stromae has a full and calm bite. Stromae is a predatory dog in his biting and carries speed while maintaining the ability to adapt to a changing situation.

If he does not have a full grip, he is content with maintaining what he does have; however, if given the opportunity, he will adjust to improve his biting situation. Stromae is predatory when it comes to anything that moves. His ball drive is exceptionally high, which is only outdone by his instinctive nature with prey animals. Stromae is sensitive to handler corrections, and is respects decoy corrections. He is naturally very in tune with his handler and can be described as a point dog. He is the most natural jumping dog we have ever encountered and he has a natural hold for any object.
While he is forward and challenging with people he is unfamiliar with at home, he is pro-social with dogs and people in neutral settings. Stromae is a fair dog and can be handled by more than one person. Stromae is clear-headed and environmentally stable in all situations. He has shown civility and we expect that to develop as he grows older. When not working, he has an "off-switch" which makes him very easy to live with but he needs an adequate mental and physical stimulation to properly settle.
Stromae's health testing has been completed and while he is a carrier for SCDA2 he will not be bred to females unless they are clear.. He completed hip/elbow testing resulting in excellent hip and normal elbows. We will also ensure his eye testing will also be completed. He is available for outside breedings on a pre-approved basis.

Ludo is a very large very powerful and forward male. He has always had a full, deep, and crushing grip on whatever he is biting. His biting is aggressive and is only outdone by his entries. Ludo throws his entire body into the decoy. Simply put Ludo is a show stopper and a 90lb missile who enjoys the physical nature of French Ring.
If he does not have a full grip, he will push into the decoy to achieve this. All of Ludo's drives are extreme. He is obsessed with chasing and finding balls, and his food drive is also very high. Ludo is not sensitive to handler or decoy corrections. Ludo is structurally sound while being larger than a standard Malinois. Ludo jumps well beyond all of the French Ring III maximum jumps.
While he is pro-social with people, he is dog aggressive. Ludo is a fair dog and can be handled by more than one person. Ludo is clear-headed and environmentally stable in all situations. Despite being pressed, he has not shown civility in any situation he has been involved with. When not working, he has an "off-switch" which makes him very easy to live with.
Ludo's additional Embark health testing is pending our decision to utilize him as a stud or a confirmed outside breeding. He will not be bred without Embark health testing. He has undergone OFA x-rays and his right elbow was listed as being Grade 1. This has not impacted Ludo's ability to jump or work whatsoever. He is available for outside breedings on a pre-approved basis.

Ludo, unfortunately, passed away unexpectedly in 2023. We will forever miss him, he is a half brother to Ionn.
